I completed my B.A. in Mass Communication, Journalism, and Political Science at St. Mary’s College (2018-21 batch). My journey has been one filled with countless experiences and memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. The college has been a second home to me and has played a pivotal role in shaping me into the person I am today.
My journey began with a sense of uncertainty and nervousness as I stepped into a new environment with new people. However, as I started attending classes and participating in various extracurricular activities, I began to feel a sense of belongingness and comfort.
The faculty members at St. Mary’s College have been incredibly supportive and have gone above and beyond to ensure that I receive the best education possible. Their guidance and mentorship have been invaluable in my academic and personal growth. I cannot speak enough about our Principal and mentor, Prof J Mathew George, who had a special interest in guiding and motivating the students. He is someone I’m truly grateful for!
Apart from academics, St. Mary’s College offers a plethora of opportunities for students to showcase their talents and skills. I had the privilege of participating in several events such as cultural festivals, sports meets, and debates, which not only helped me build my confidence but also allowed me to form lasting connections with my peers. The connections and friendships that I made during my time at St. Mary’s College will always hold a special place in my heart. The college has a vibrant and diverse student community, and I am grateful for the experiences and memories that I have shared especially with my fellow classmates.
During my time at St. Mary’s, I developed a keen interest in the field of media and communication. I was fascinated by the power of storytelling and its ability to influence people’s perceptions and behavior. However, as I progressed through my studies, I realized that I also had a passion for business and management. After completing my undergraduate studies, I decided to pursue a master’s degree in business management. It was a difficult decision as it meant moving away from my comfort zone in the media industry, but I felt it was necessary to explore my other interests and develop a more diverse skill set.
During my master’s program, I had the opportunity to learn about various aspects of business, including marketing, finance, and operations. I also gained practical experience through internships and networking events, which helped me build my professional network and develop a better understanding of the job market. Upon completing my master’s degree, I was fortunate enough to land a job offer at Amazon UK.
Overall, my journey from being a Mass Communication student at St. Mary’s College to where I am now has been transformative. It has taught me the importance of being open to new experiences and embracing change. I am excited to see where my career path takes me next, and I am grateful for the opportunities that have come my way so far.
